Amanda's Medical Fund

Amanda has been apart of our community through her beautiful contributions around downtown Phoenix as a muralist and a fine artist, exhibiting her work throughout the downtown scene.  She has donated artwork and volunteered murals within our communities, such as One Step Beyond, Hands On Greater Phoenix, amongst many others.  She is an Art Educator, Mother, and advocate for our creative youth.  She spends most her days teaching children art, and her nights painting to makes ends meet.  

Amanda is also a long time suffer of Endometriosis.  For those not familiar, endometriosis is endometrial tissue that grows outside the uterus, causing extreme pain and damage to major organs.   Amanda has had several surgeries, this recent being her fourth.  During the initial surgery the plan was to remove her ovaries and any remaining tissues that had Endometriosis.  

Unfortunately things did not go as planned, and after being released from the hospital, she was rushed back the following day with massive internal bleeding.  Amanda suffered from respiratory failure and was put on a respirator for 3 days until the bleeding was stopped.  She spent a little over a week in the ICU and is recovering at home with several inpatient procedures ahead of her.

Amanda was hoping to rely on short-term disability through her work to cover her expenses during the 6-8 week recovery but was denied because it is considered a pre-existing condition. With her sick time used up, and insurance only covering a portion of the medical bills, she is left with a financial strain beyond her means.
