Art For A Cause was founded by 3 Passionate Social Entrepreneurs - Adaora, Osa & Akinlabi.
We created AAC as a platform to inspire and educate the public using Art as our medium of communication. The project kicked off this year, and together with a team of artists, we plastered and painted educational artwork on walls in 2 Public Schools within Lagos. In addition, we spent time with the kids, conducting a Spelling Bee, Teaching the importance of Nutrition and Exercise, as well as gave out Merchandise, Books, Bags, Crayons, and Drawing Books.
While we understand that most community development project geared towards kids are primarily based on Literature (Reading), and Food Distribution, we believe that Art is a very powerful medium to capture their minds and hearts, and keep them inspired throughout their time in school. We've seen this through our project, as one of the kids recently sent us a Comic book that he drew including educational text. Through this project, we believe that we can start to make an impact in the schools, and also create Art projects geared towards raising funds for their other needs.
Art For A Cause has been funded privately as we are passionate about giving back to the community. However, we believe that with crowdfunding we can do this in various schools not limited to Lagos City.
One of our favorite things about this platform is that it's not just about donating. It's about spending time with the people we're donating to, and having them be a part of the process. We get the kids to paint the walls with us, this way they know not to destroy what they helped build. Because TEAMWORK makes the DREAM WORK.
