Art in the Garden
This program is in its 9th year and it geared to families in the Otsego County Michigan community. It features artists who emphasize nature-themed works. In addition, the festival includes performing artists who could be story-tellers, singers and other types of oral presentation. This year we plan to bring Michigan musicians Ruth and Max Bloomquist as the 2019 headliners. There will be a total of 5 acts on our beautiful stage area.
Also, we hope to have Nature Discovery, which specializes in Michigan Reptiles and Amphibians for a live exhibit with 13 to 15 aquariums and a turtle pool.
Make and take nature-themed art projects for adults and children will also be part of the fun . A silent auction will help provide funds for the upkeep of the Conservation District's Demonstration Garden and Conservation Forest.
The Otsego County Demonstration Garden and Conservation Forest
offers the perfect backdrop for the Art in the Garden Festival. The
garden and forest were developed more than two decades ago when a small dedicated group transformed 19 acres used for dumping debris into a beautiful community treasure. The garden and its features have
been made possible with the help and support of countless volunteers, organizations and local businesses.
This year, Art in the Garden will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2019 in the beautiful Demonstration Garden. This area also features handicapped accessible restrooms, an amphitheater with stage and state-of-the art sound system, nature center and green house where we grow and sell our own plants native to Michigan.
Art in the Garden is an opportunity for the community to celebrate the environment through art, music and a wide variety of workshops for
kids and adults. It is a chance for parents to spend a day with their
children. More than anything, it is a chance to stop and smell the
flowers with family and friends. We hope to leave a lasting legacy in
Otsego County and northern Michigan that through our children and
grandchildren, serves to protect the natural world that surrounds us.
Art in the Garden Festival is a free event, however, we have expenses
that include tents, workshop presenters and the live entertainment we offer for community enjoyment. Please consider making a donation
this fundraiser. Support of this project means we can continue to
provide this family-friendly activity at no cost to attendees and provide excellent quality entertainment and educational opportunities.
We greatly appreciate all contributions to this important and fun community event.
