ArribaPR2017

This past Wednesday, September 20th, Puerto Rico got hit with a category 5 hurricane. Currently most of us Puerto Ricans in the US have little to no contact with our friends and family members. ArribaPR2017 began with the effort to join all of us currently not able to physically help in the island. There are so many feelings of helplessness and despair in the moment. Our mission is to help Puerto Rico rise above, to not only step in and help, but make sure that goods and supplies keep coming after the first difficult days after the pass of Maria. As many have said, there is no short term fix for this matter, we need to think ahead.

We are not a non-profit, nor a corporation, we are Puerto Ricans anxious to help. The plan mainly consists in gathering as many funds to buy supplies as possible, at the moment we have a team of about 10 members waiting to purchase their flight tickets and head home to help, myself included. However, many can just support from the US by gathering supplies; for this reason the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition is backing us with support to send a container with supplies shipping from Florida. Depending on how big the donations are among states, arrangements will be made to be taken to Florida. Our main groups of volunteers are located  in two main points at the moment in Arizona and Boston (NY/DC). 

We are contacting you for you support in any way, mainly for establishing donation centers, warehouses, transportation, or any other service you can provide us regarding the logistics of not only shipping the supplies to the island but also gathering them.
