Yesterday, July 31, 2018, the most horrific tragedy happened at the James Island Home of Cole Smith.  Cole,  a bright, caring and courageous individual was the victim of a home invasion. Two individuals broke into his home, shot Cole and left him for dead. Cole was transported to MUSC but succumbed to the gunshot wound. At the age of 22, Cole lost his life and this  senseless  crime has not only one victim but several. The lives of his mother, Robin,  his father Rodney and his two younger brothers, Marshall and Robert are forever changed.   The heartache this family is enduring today is only just beginning as they will find the birthdays, the holidays and the special moments they envisioned for their son and brother incomplete. The pain will be insurmountable at times and is something no parent should ever endure. We very much want to take the financial burden out of the equation and provide as much support as possible for Cole’s funeral arrangements. Please give what you can.

We are so thankful for all the friends and family that have supported this campaign for Rodney and Robin Smith. Because each of you gave so generously, we hit our initial goal of $5,000. We know this does not make the loss of Cole any easier, however, we hope in some small way it helps to relieve some of the financial burden the family is facing as a result of this heinous crime. The campaign will stay active for a bit longer, please feel free to share this fund-raiser so other friends and family who wish to donate will have an opportunity to do so. As a reminder, Cole's burial is tomorrow at 10:00 a.m. The family invites you to attend.
