*School Supplies Fundraiser*

Donation protected
Turning 40 this month has provided a good opportunity to do something special, for the occasion, the beautiful people of the Marshall Islands, and for the area I've had the fortune to call home this past 5 years.

It's hard to receive an education when you don't have the very basic supplies to aid in learning. So this fundraiser is going towards purchasing school supplies for outer island schools... whiteboard markers, chalk, pencils, paper, and some form of desks... even if it's a bean bag chair and a lap desk. Many of the students at outer island schools only have a hard floor to sit and do their work on.

Life on islands is simple, yet difficult... I'll have to update with the name, but recently one of the islands experienced a food shortage. The children couldn't go to school for two weeks as they were foraging for food. This particular island prides itself on education and due to these types of unfortunate circumstances has had, to say the least, a set back. While you can't eat school supplies... your kind gesture will make a BIG and very noticeable difference for the life of another.

The goal I've set is not a limit and I will keep the fundraiser up through the month of November with periodic updates. If you would like to donate items rather than money, please message me on Facebook or through this fundraiser site to receive my mailing address. Once the items are all acquired I plan to fly the local airline to the islands and distribute supplies.

Kommol Tata,

Liz

UPDATE: We reached the original goal of $2000.00 the day before my birthday and just 12 days into the fundraiser! WOW ... Thank you all so much for your generous donations! I've increased the goal to $3000.00 as there are still 21 days left in the month. More money raised means more outer island schools donated to. So wonderful!

UPDATE: I've had a generous donation from a family here on Kwajalein to pay for the cargo fees associated with delivering the school supplies! Thank YOU!!!

UPDATE: The school previously mentioned, and now pictured, is on the island of Katiej. This is a primary school for upper grades and from here the kids have to test to get into the school in Majuro, the Capital and largest city of the Marshall Islands, of which they leave their families to attend. This particular school has one of the best records for kids passing the test for enrollment in Majuro. Their teacher, Walden, has taught there for a number of years.
