In 2016, Arik was hospitalized for Pancreatitis. He spent 10 days in the hospital, 4 of which in ICU. Shortly after, he began experiencing an unusual pain. The follow up appointments lead to a series of exams, tests and an MRI.
The MRI showed a mass and the doctor scheduled Arik for a biopsy. During the procedure the T3 tumor was fractured and only a part of the mass was removed.
After an examination of the mass, the diagnosis was determined as Stage 3 Anal Squamous Cell Carcinoma.
With treatment, his incredible team of doctors is confident that they can kill what’s left of this moderately aggressive disease.
Wednesday April 12th, Arik will begin his treatment: 5 ½ weeks of daily localized radiation concurrent with 5 ½ weeks of daily chemotherapy (oral and infused), followed by 2-3 weeks of recovery.
Although Arik has medical insurance, he may not feel well enough to work during this time. So we are asking for help to stay ahead of his continual medical expenses.
