Scholarships for Special Needs Kids
Every Child Deserves a Little Grace
A Place for Grace is a child care center specifically designed for special needs children. It was founded by me, Jenny Dumont, Mother of Emma Grace. Currently there are over 6,000 children in Saginaw County that qualify for special education services that have no facility to attend that truly serve and honor their mild to moderate impairments and disabilities. Emma Grace is cognitively impaired, developmentally delayed and lives with epilepsy and the inspiration for A Place for Grace.
Last year I created A Place for Grace after being called to pick up Emma from daycare because she was having a meltdown. When I went to pick her up the 4th time that week, I saw a caregiver holding Emma who was screaming, sitting on a pad trying to keep her from hurting herself or others. I was told that if her behavior continued I would have to find another place for her. I was devestated! I knew Emma loved to play with other kids. Just because she doesn't act, talk or play the same - doesn't mean she shouldn't have quality child care. That afternoon - on the drive home - A Place for Grace was formed.
We have set up a non profit fund to help families bring their kids to A Place for Grace. We have kept our tuition rates comparable with those of traditional daycares, but we know the impact a good daycare can make - so we want to make it ever EASIER for families to bring their kids!
Help grow the scholarship fund as we prepare for our summer program. We expect to serve and honor up to 40 special needs kids!
Scholarships are awarded as a subsidy for up to 6 months at a time. All scholarship money goes to the families!
Families with special needs children statistically pay more out of pocket expenses for general needs than most families with out. Our scholarship program subsidizes families costs when applied for, so their children get the qualify care they need to grow socially and emotionally.
Thank you for your support - Every Child Deserves a Little Grace.
We passed our inspection with only a few updates needed - we couldn't be happier.
There are so many special needs children that need a place to go after school and we are the only place in the area to help them.
Thank you for your continued support.
