Foster Care Fire Damage Recovery

A Place Called Hope is a private non-profit that works to support local foster children and families. We provide case management to foster families, Christmas gifts to children, and have a clothing closet for children that may come into care with only the clothes on their backs. 
 
The night of 5/8/2017, the back building that housed the clothing closet, car seats for transporting children to visits, and Christmas trees used to solicit gift donations caught fire and was destroyed. There is no known cause to the fire. The agency is now struggling to find a way to continue offering these services to local families. There were also plans for the building to be used as a safe place for parents to visit their children. 

I have worked with this agency for over 4 years. I have witnessed firsthand the effect this agency has on the children and families it serves. Providing a duffle bag of clothes to a child that only has the clothes on their back and seeing their face light up when they realize the contents are all theirs. Introducing Santa to a child that has never seen him before. Ensuring that every child has new toys for Christmas.These are some of the gifts of hope that are part of our mission.
