APAHA 2019 Interactive Arts Workshop

The Association for the Promotion of the Art of Horsemanship in America (APAHA) is dedicated to supporting educational opportunities that advance horsemanship as an art form in America. As part of this mission of preserving riding as an art form, APAHA is hosting an Interactive Arts Workshop in April 2019 that brings together artists across several disciplines -- riding, dance and music.

The two-day workshop is an educational event that will provide artists from across these disciplines with an opportunity to explore the various ways that they can merge their talents to create new art. And, in the process, artists from outside of the equestrian world will be exposed to riding as an art form and the role that horses can play in creating art.

The workshop is open to the public to allow all with an interest in art to share in the creative process. It is hoped that through observation and participation in discussions throughout the two days, that spectators and participants will be inspired to pursue future efforts to incorporate horsemanship into artistic collaborative efforts.

APAHA is seeking to raise $25,000 to support the costs of this workshop. APAHA riders are donating their time to this project but funds are needed for travel and housing for other participating artists, some of whom are traveling from Europe to participate and to support the costs of renting the venue for the workshop. In addition, the funds are needed to support the maintenance of the equine artists that are part of the workshop.

APAHA is dedicated to ensuring that riding as an art form not only survives but thrives well into the future. For the past several years, APAHA has self-funded workshops and educational opportunities for equestrian artists. The Interactive Arts Workshop is APAHA's largest project to date and its success will do much to help highlight the value of APAHA's work.

If only 1,000 people who care about the survival of equestrian arts in America donate a mere $25 to support APAHA's upcoming workshop, we will achieve our funding goal. The Interactive Arts Workshop is critically important to APAHA's mission. Through this workshop, artists from multiple disciplines will gain knowledge and experience that will broaden their own understanding of art. And there will be a ripple effect in the world of art as they take this new understanding back to their own worlds of art.
