Antigonish Montessori School House

Antigonish Montessori School is a brand new non-traditional school in Antigonish Nova Scotia. We are the only non-traditional school in our area. Our focus is to help raise children who are  active participants in their own education and remain interested not only in their personal experiences, but in their world on a global and community level.  When children are given the tools to be active participants in their own learning, and their own life, they grow in confidence and become the adults who create change and growth in their community. 
  Right now we are only able to accept 6 children because our space is too small! We have 25 families on a waiting list that just keeps growing. We are using these funds to build a new school and playground for children to grow and learn. This new school will provide space for children to grow in their independance, self efficacy, self esteem and creativity through caring and supportive education. This new school will also provide up to 5 new jobs in our community for nurturing teachers in a communtiy that is in need of employment opportunities. 
   When children are given the tools to be active participants in their own learning, and their own life, they grow in confidence and become the adults who create change and growth in their community. They have interest, they are educated from an early age about community consciousness, and they gain an awareness that leads to action. This is the start we are giving our children.
