Electric Scooter for Conference

$150 goal

Campaign created 7 months ago
I am a romance writer, with one self-published book. Currently, I have four full-length manuscripts ready to be submitted; the first two of a 4-book contemporary romance series, and the first two of a 3-book paranormal romance series.
This year, I am determined to go to the Romance Writers of America's National Conference this July. It's in Denver, about 800 miles away, which means I can drive there. There is the opportunity to meet with 14 agents and/or publishers to pitch my manuscripts too, as well as lots more networking and learning opportunities.
I do feel as if I've reached the point where a publisher might look at me with serious interest. My published novel, Truck Stop, was awarded 4 stars from Romantic Times magazine when it was published in 2001, but more recently, one of my manuscripts took 2nd place in the Melody of Love Contest and another took 3rd place in the On The Far Side Contest, both RWA chapter sponsored writing contests, in paranormal romance category. I have a steadily growing social media presence, my own web domain (alliemccormack.com) and a monthly author news letter.
I feel like I'm standing on the brink of a career as a published author, and this conference has the potential to be my launching pad. Besides the completed manuscripts mentioned above, I plan to have two more completed by July, so I would be attending the conference with 6 finished, ready-to-submit manuscripts. It would mean the world to me to be able to attend this conference, and to have the opportunity to get my work in front of a significant number of agents and publishers.
I am a 100% disabled veteran with severe spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis of the right knee. While I do fine for day-to-day living, disability income doesn't run to conference attendance. Denver is about 600 miles from me. I plan to drive, as I have a reliable car. I have saved up enough for the conference and to get there and back; my problem is that I very desperately need to rent an electric scooter while I'm there. There is a medical supply company that rents then to conference attendees; it will be $150 for the 5 days of the conference, and they deliver the scooter and pick it up.
Without the scooter, I'll be crippled before the end of the first day, and totally unable to get around the rest of the conference, as there is lots and lots of walking (and standing) to be done.
You would not only have my eternal gratitude, but I'll be making a special Acknowledgements page on my website for all sponsors. All sponsors also will get a free copy of Truck Stop on Kindle, as well as the eBook of *any* manuscript that winds up being published as a result of attendance at the Conference. This will take awhile... but believe me, I'm not going to forget you! And lastly, anyone who donates $100 or more will receive a free copy of every book I publish in my lifetime... eBook or an autographed paperback would be your choice. And of course I'll keep you updated on any success I have at the Conference as far as invitations to submit my manuscripts.

Very sincerely,
Allie McCormack
