You may be aware the Fond du Lac County Historical Society is need of some help to continue running operations and begin the process of restoring some of the very historic buildings on the Galloway property. The Galloway Family has very generously offered to match all new donations to the Society up to $50,000 by December 31, 2018 (this means donations are automatically doubled)! FDL County has also stepped in and as a result, there is a brand new roof on the Galloway House! Anyone who has ever put a roof on their home knows this isn't an inexpensive undertaking; imagine putting a new roof on a mansion!
This is a great start, however, there is much more to be done.
A lot of people in our community get fired up about historic properties when wheels are already in motion and it's pretty much too late. IT'S NOT TOO LATE with the FDL County Historical Society. They have a new strategic plan and are actively making changes in programming, organization and governance to ensure that this treasure is around for generations to come.
A group of individuals who care deeply about the Society and its impact on our community have agreed to help raise funds for the Annual Support Campaign to help with operational support. A capital campaign will come later; Excel Engineering is providing an analysis of all of the buildings on the property so the Society can formulate a plan for repair and restoration where needed.
As stated above, IT'S NOT TOO LATE. We ask you to consider how important historic preservation is to our community. Please think very hard about making a donation of any amount - remember, it's double!
