Thank you for taking the time to read about the Animal Welfare Foster Program's GoFundMe account! AWFP is a 501(c)3 rescue organization run by veterinary students at Virginia Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine. Our rescue was established in 2004 and since then we have saved over 700 dogs!

Recently, we have had an influx of medical cases come into our rescue. These dogs require substantial medical care and the funds we have saved for their unique circumstances have dwindled so we are reaching out to the public to help us save these babies!

Below you will find a description and photos of each medical case. Every donation will make a difference for these dogs and if you would like to help sponsor a specific animal then just mention their name with your donation!

If you are interested in adoption you visit our webiste awfpva.org or visit our facebook page  https://www.facebook.com/awfp2004/

Dean has the biggest heart both figuratively and literally! He came to our rescue with a heart 3x the size it should be and with a grade 5/6 heart murmur. He will be going to a board certified cardiologist to have a full workup done so we can figure out the best route of treatment for this handsome man.
Estimate: $800

Mojo is one of the best boys but he just doesn't fit in his own skin! This sweet boy has been suffering from skin disease for going on three years and he was recently surrendered to our rescue in the hopes that we can finally figure out how to help clear him up. Mojo has a long road ahead but we're determined to make this sweet fella feel better! Estimate: $1000

This little Hokie is Reggie! He came into our rescue wobbling more than a normal puppy should with weak rear legs and a lack of conscious proprioception. A visit to the neurologist and a few radiographs later led us to discover that Reggie has a broken neck (fractured dens). He will be in his cast for a month and then we will repeat radiographs to see the progress he has made. The road ahead of him is going to be long but we're going to help him every step of the way!
Estimate: $1000

Nova is a sweet angel that loves to attack you with kisses. Sadly, she was attacked herself, but definitely not with kisses. Two other dogs went after her relentlessly and left her pretty torn up. She has undergone two surgeries so far and she may need several more and additional care. Despite her struggles she has stayed a happy tail-wagging puppy!
Estimate: $1200

Katahdin is an older gentlemen who loves his foster siblings (Kids, Kitties, and K9s). He has been in our rescue for 6 months and is the most perfect boy but nobody has shown any interest in adopting him yet :'( We just discovered that he has a mouth tumor that needs to come out and part of his jaw bone may have to go with it. He's a little nervous about his surgery, but he's most nervous about still not being able to find his forever home after he's had the surgery! He's only 8-years-old and still has plenty of years of love and companionship to share! If you could spread the word about him looking for his home in addition to donations then he would be so grateful!
Estimate: $3000

"You would think my name is Hopps because I have three legs, right!? Nope, I was named after beer because I'm a little bit crazy and its just coincidence that I had to have my leg amputated!"

Hopps came into our rescue when he was only 6 weeks old with a severely broken leg. The doctors recommended splinting the leg and monitoring healing, as the xrays showed that the break was too old for them to recommend a surgical repair at the time. Despite several weeks of splinting and bandage changes, his leg never managed to heal quite right. Although it was a hard choice, due to the pain and discomfort his leg was causing him, we had to amputate the leg. Hopps is recovering well and is still his goofy and naughty self. He definitely doesn’t let being on three legs slow him down! Sadly, Hopps currently seems to be having some severe nerve pain associated with his amputated forelimb. He’s currently on quite expensive medications to help him be more comfortable as he’s healing and we’re hoping that the pain resolves with time and care.
Estimate: $500

Remember that time on The Office that Meredith Palmer was run over by Michael Scott? This Meredith can relate.  Meredith has a dislocated hip from being hit by a car several weeks before she came to our rescue. She will be undergoing surgery to treat the dislocation and to remove a few of her large fatty tumors. She is also on a veterinary diet to assist with her weight loss
Estimate: $1000

This adorable little man started life out on the wrong foot; he was hit by a car and has a severely broken leg! He's feeling great with pain medications on board, but Marcus will need his rear leg amputated in order to make a complete recovery. Due to our current influx of medical cases, we had decided to put a hold on any incoming animals until our financial situation became more stable. However, look at this guy! He just flashed his eyes our way and we couldn't say no!
