Animal Wellness Clinic

Can you help us help us...?

After several years of frequenting the area of San Diego, Nicaragua and watching countless dogs and cats struggling meet their basic needs for food, shelter, medical attention or much deserved love, we felt we had to get involved.  What we found is that there was no access to local veterinary care within our community, unless you have a car to drive 20+ minutes to the nearest Vet.  Impossible for the large majority of folks here (making 5-10$ a day per household).  We thought about how we could give these animals much needed access to sterilization and basic animal care.  This was something our family could do to help make lasting change, within the community we have grown to love.

On November 25th, we completed our 2nd sterilization clinic and it exceeded our expectations.  We sterilized 54 animals, more than doubled our previous clinic. We are in the beginning stages of planning a February clinic, and with your support we can continue to make a positive change for the voiceless animals in Nicaragua.  Helping these animals doesn't feel like an option. Our dream would be to offer regular spay/neuter and wellness clinics to help the animals within our local communities.

In late 2017,  we met Elisa who founded a well established Nicaraguan animal rescue organization called Fundacian ADAN.   They are a rescue organization with 11 foster homes for cats and dogs, all over Nicaragua. They care for approximately 200 animals daily. They are passionate about rescuing and providing foster or forever homes for animals in need. The founders, Elisa and her mother, work tirelessly to help animals in need, without pay. Elisa has assisted in both of our clinics to date and we have supported her in some of her projects as well. She is a fierce advocate for the voiceless animals of Nicaragua.

With our clinics, any community member that is interested  is welcome to attend, free of charge.  In addition to spaying and neutering, we are seeing a huge need for worming, flea and tick treatment, vaccinations, skin issues, wound care and minor surgeries. Our hope is to be able to offer these options for our next clinic. The estimated future cost for treating one animal is approximately $20 USD.  Our original goal was to reach 200 animals. We have successfully sterilized 75 animals to date. With the need growing daily .. we have increased our goal to 20000000(all of them)!! We don't want to give up on the animals.

Our biggest goal is to educate the locals on the importance of animal sterilization, health and care. Our underlying belief that through education and interaction with the local community we will start the cycle of healthy, sterilized animals and the importance of properly caring for their animals. Through these efforts, we will decrease disease being spread to humans, and change local perceptions on animal welfare.

With that said we have begun a new campaign for 2019. WE hope to host a clinic in the next community. We would like to offer farm and working animal care as well. The community depends on these animals for a living, transportation and food.

Please consider making a donation to our efforts. No donation to big or small. We are grateful to you that we can keep up with this work. Making a lasting change in lives of folks and animals who would other wise have very few options.

Thank you for your consideration.

UPDATE:

We are planning to host another clinic in February and June 2019.
