Anna Lake Animal Sanctuary is a microsanctuary located in Underwood, Minnesota. We started in the fall of 2017 and are devoted to providing a caring home through rescue, adoption and education.
Our core principles align with ethical veganism which includes the safety, physical, and emotional well-being of our residents, along with striving to be spaces of collective liberation; where beings of all species can be safe from violence, oppression, and exploitation.
A microsanctuary is the idea of rescuing animals on a smaller scale than larger sanctuaries. We focus on farmed species; ones humans do not typically view as companions.
We currently are home to 19 chickens, 5 ducks, and 3 cows.
We are raising funds to be able to expand what we have started. We have built 4 smaller sheds to home our current residence, but are looking to replace large barns on our property to house and properly care for our future residence that may need a home.
There are 4 old barns on the property that need to be replaced along with adding heat and electricity.
We have 189 acres of land to help animals in need and the only thing we need is financing. With financing towards our expansion, we would have the tools and resources to save more farmed animals and expand to others such as pigs, goats, lambs, etc.
We are looking to have these funds raised by the spring of 2019 so that we can get started on a full remodel this next season.
We are currently a nonprofit with an application pending as a 501c3. Every dollar spent goes 100% towards our rescues and this expansion.
