Please help my diabetic cat Angus
If this were for me, I would never ask for help... but it is for Angus. I have very limited income, at this point in time, and barely making it. I have to put pride aside for my baby sake. It has come down to food/bills/my meds and co-pays or Angus medications. I continue to struggle more as each month goes by with the high cost of care.
Angus was found in a rainstorm in 2004, wandering around lost , soaking wet, hair matted and covered in fleas in Bay Park. They estimated his age at 1 yr. I adopted him from Humane Society and he is so friendly and loving. He is my everything as I now live alone after living and caring for my Mom for a year.
I have helped many in past and now I find myself needing help. Reality hit hard this month, as I have few days of insulin and needles left and no way to pay for more, or the vet exam he needs to check his glucose levels. The money asked for will help out immensely with some of high cost of care and hopefully I will be in better place soon.
I know so many need help these days and I appreciate any help given... no matter how small. I promise I will pay it forward, as I always have, when I am in better position financially.
Thanks Erland for the kind comment and donation :)
It has been a little over a month since Angus went from 3 units of insulin to 2 units. I am monitoring his water intake and urine and all seems good. Vet suggested we keep him on this dose another month and then we will get his blood work checked again. I just purchased more insulin. I shopped around and so far, the vet surprisingly has the best price. $100 per vial.
Thanks to all that have donated, shared, commented and given me great tips. I appreciate each and every one of you. xooxox
He had his blood draw, mini blood panel, Fructosamine Level checked ($202.65). Had a bit of good news for once. Angus levels are much better and might be headed for remission! Vet suggested I go from 3 units to 2 units of insulin twice a day for the next month to see how it goes. I will be monitoring his water intake and urine amounts carefully. So far, so good. I have not seen an increase in water consumption. Vet is a bit concerned about weight as being on diabetic diet he gained (perplexing) and is almost 28 pounds. So I am working on getting that down which Angus is not too happy with. He does not eat that much! Keeping him on same diabetic diet food just a bit less. I will be calling vet at end of month to see what next step is. He possibly could need an inhaler, which is pretty expensive, for his allergies. I will have to buy some more insulin in next week or so. The $$ donated have helped so much with cost of the appointments, needles, insulin and food!
Thank you all for helping me keep Angus healthy and happy. Thank you to latest donors Mary and John!
MEOW to all the angels out there helping xoxo
He saw the carrier come out, sniffed it, and walked quickly into the bathroom to hide. Car ride is always fun. He sounds like he is being murdered.
***Big thank you for the latest donations from >Haze Sommer, Roswitha Brigitte Thoms , B C , Anonymous, Dana Lee and Andrea Lange . If i missed someone i apologize*** You are all angels xo
Thank you once again for your donations so I can afford this visit and possibly an inhaler. You are all the best! xoxo
WOW I need help for Shitty Kitty. Rick and I found him in a parking lot when he was just a baby. Rick passed away 4 years ago and I went to the vet's and they wanted 1000.00 to just start his diabetic treatment. I'm on disability ... I can't afford that but you know I'm trying alternatives and he really is hanging in there. But I need insulin. I use to be a vet tech and had a cat that was diabetic before. I just need the insulin.
