I wanted to put this group together because I'm appalled by the direction our country is headed. I see a lot of action going on now, but I want to make sure it doesn't run out of steam and that issues are addressed as directly as possible while making use of every platform to promote social justice ideas.
What are we doing?
It's not complete, and we aim to be organized very loosely. I think a "support" organization would be helpful in the long run, as there are many groups out there leading and movement building. (more power to them, but I have trouble keeping up!) Rather than try to be another vanguard group, I'd like to try and focus on taking on an auxiliary role- taking leadership from groups at the forefront and providing support in as many ways as we can muster.
The basic idea is creating infrastructure and resources that can either be used by existing organizing groups or be used by us to support the work they're doing. This support can come in many forms- essays on the labor history, explanations of how systemic racism works, self-care skills, analysis of current legislation, poems expressing our emotions, activist art... there's no limit to what we can publish. The idea is to occupy digital space and provide material support to those fighting for justice. We can also support each other- we can reach out to people who need help, we can pool resources, we can creatively approach problems, and we can make people's lives better. People working together is a powerful thing, and I think we can do a lot!
