Hi friends,  Angel Bengal and Maria here. You are all our family and we really need your help now. December 25th, 2018 was the day that has turned our lives upside down.
Our Daddy, our hero, the strongest man we know has been diagnosed with brain tumor. Shocked, we started to desperately search how to fight it.

I’m so thankful that our Cats and People community united during this dark time. My best friends Ali Pankow and Kirsti are helping with campaign organization and spreading the word  while I’m taking care of the my dad.

Our Dad's name is Sergey and he has been working as a loadmaster on  one of the largest cargo aircrafts in the world (AN-124) for 25 years. All his life he's been delivering cargo all over the world. This includes highly important equipment, as well as equipment for different research universities and medical aid for the countries in need. Ruslan is one of the biggest planes in the world and my dad knows this huge birdie like his five fingers. Dad was always doing everything to keep our family happy, healthy and safe.

Our Dad is the kindest person we know. All his life he has not only been taking care of us and huge airplanes, but also rescuing animals and helping children in need. He can't live without Mr. Denis and Angel. He rescued many dogs throughout his life and adopted a great dane, Grey, and kittens Kuzya and Tim who happily lived with my parents for many years.

On December 25th, 2018 our dad had a seizure while driving . We were all with him and it was incredibly scary. He was rushed to the hospital. MRI scans revealed a huge tumor - a Glioma, in the frontal lobes and corpus callosum of his brain.

The words "cancer, brain tumor, survival, fighting for life, the most dangerous disease" were without a doubt the most terrifying words our family has ever heard. It's like a nightmare that trapped our thoughts. I can't even begin to tell what we all felt. Cold sweat and the fear to loose our Dad paralyzed us. We tried to calm down as much as we could in this situation. We didn't want the fear to take hold of our minds. And we realized it will be very difficult but now is our turn to make our Dad happy, healthy and  to keep him safe.

Our Dad really appreciates all of your support. He thinks positively and he is ready to fight. He says that he has a brain tumor, but a brain tumor doesn't have him! Together we will  help him get rid of it, as we are all here for him!

He is taking this illness in his head the way he would fight the scariest enemies - with courage, cheerfulness and a dash of humor. Our dad wants to show other patients that brain tumor will never get him.

Our mom and us can't loose this incredible man who inspired us to travel and spread love and positivity to every single person we meet. But for now, we will have to go on a dangerous and long journey named "removing the tumor out of our dad's head"

In January, 2019 (this month) our Dad will have craniotomy surgery and after that he will continue with treatments, radiation and chemo therapy.

Unfortunately, treating brain tumors is extremely expensive and my dad's insurance can barely cover 2% of the costs .  We have learned about various kinds of treatments including Radiation Therapy,  Proton Beam Therapy, magnetic and immunotherapy and the exciting Boron Neutron Capture Therapy studies used for treating brain tumors in Japan and soon in Finland. Hopefully, we can start there. Besides this, we will do standard treatments of the chemotherapy. With brain tumors we don't have a chance for a single mistake and will use every opportunity to kick the tumor out of dad’s head.

These treatments are extremely expensive and often conducted outside of our home country. We are investing all of our family's life savings to help cure my dad, but unfortunately it's not nearly enough. The outlined treatment plan will cost a lot  which is why we started this campaign. Your help, even the smallest amount will make a huge difference in all of our lives. Our family will be forever grateful to you for your help and support in these dark times.

My friend Ali (known as @zoey_thebengal) is responsible for financial part, all funds are being sent to Ali's personal bank account and  Ali will be transferring the funds to my dad by cash.

Kirsti (bklynbengal) is spreading the word on social media and organized CatsOfInstagram campaign “All for one and one for all” where everyone united and reposted the message.

My dad is ready to educate people and start helping and supporting people in situations like his, so if we raise more money than needed for our Dad's treatments, we will keep working on helping people with cancer and especially with the deadliest brain cancer. All money raised will go not only towards our Dads treatments and recovery, but part of it will also be donated to fighting cancer and research into brain tumors. Angel, me and our Dad will do everything to help people in such a scary situation.

Our Dad recently learned that with the surgery and treatments his ability to continue his  normal cargo airlines career won’t be possible.  Hence, our family goal now will be to raise awareness and money to help him and other people to fight cancer, especially brain tumors.

Thank you for taking your time to read our story. We appreciate your support, care, love, friendship and strength in supporting our Dad in this battle. You are our family and together we can fight. I know we are not alone in this fight. Please pass this message as wide and as far as you possibly can to bring awareness and support, so we can defeat this disease together.

Every voice matters!

We love you and thank you all,

Angel Bengal, Maria and our Dad: Sergey
