Andy Ritchie's Big Headache
$102,442 of $100,000 goal
As you can imagine, all this nonsense has left him unable to work, and the ongoing medical treatments & doctor visits he requires aren't cheap.
That's why me and Andy's friends Colton Dunn & Nick Swardson decided to start this campaign. We want to help Andy and his girlfriend Ruby get through all of this as smoothly as possible without having to worry about bills, money and everything else that goes along with this kind of thing.
If you can, please drop a few bucks towards this campaign and share it with your friends & family.
Help out a super great dude during a totally shitty time!
I'm posting an update to let you all know there will be a memorial service for Andy in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Hotel on Feb 27th starting at 6pm, dinner at 8pm and a show at 9:30pm. RSVP to the Facebook event if you can here: https://www.facebook.com/events/171239296578383/
I'll add more details to the event page as I get them. Hope to see you there!
If you'd like to make a donation in Andy's memory, please give to the National Brain Tumor Society here:
Andy passed away this afternoon at Hollywood Presbyterian. His mom, Ruby, and his brother Simon were all with him.
I don't know what else to say. He was a great guy. Listen to his album on Spotify or download it or whatever. He's hilarious.
Thanks for everything you all did to help. Have a good Thanksgiving.
Thank you all for your help. We are looking into a lot of your recommendations for hospices in Los Angeles. Thanks for that.
In the meantime, Andy will be at Hollywood Presbyterian at least through tomorrow (Wed 11/24), so if you have time to stop by please do it.
I will post another update when he is moved to hospice care and let you all know where he is. If you aren't up to speed on the current situation, I'm reposting the update from Saturday below.
Thanks again, Andy is a great guy and you are all great people who are lucky to know him.
Guys, I don't know what to write in this update.
Andy doesn't have much time left- after his last surgery and subsequent stroke (yes, he suffered a stroke after the last surgery), the tumor is back and bigger than ever. There is nothing else they can do.
If you want to see Andy and say goodbye, he is at Hollywood Presbyterian hospital. Go soon if you can.
Thanks from Andy, Ruby and all his friends and family for all of your generous donations. Unfortunately all the money in the world can't save our friend at this point.
I don't know what else to say. Be nice to each other.
NO MORE DONATIONS PLEASE.
We are comics and writers. Morton's joke is funny according to Andy and anyone with our somewhat dark sense of humor/coping mechanism. But it's terribly sweet that Maria came out with both barrels in defense of our Andy. We all want the happy ending that we paid good money for.
Wow, John Morton. Correcting grammar on a fund raising post. You're something else. And by the way, he was actually correct the first time. If he took Ruby out of the sentence, it would (correctly) state "moved me to tears". Your "correction" = "moved I to tears." So, in fact, you called someone (with a brain tumor) out on a grammar error, and you are wrong. You have this *incredibly annoying* trait of being a know-it-all who doesn't know shit. What a dick.
I'm so sorry.
I am so sorry.
I'm so sorry. Awful news.
I asked around to some friends who are nurses and they recommend Roze Room highly. Also, Trinity, Seasons and Vitas.
One of my friends recommends Evergreen Hospice.
While we are waiting to hear more you might want to check out Verdugo Hospice Care Center - 4170 Verdugo Rd., LA 90065 - 323-257-5715.
My son works with Hospice care in Portland and will send out some feelers, ASAP to find a hospice close by. I hope to hear from him later this afternoon. When does Andy have to be out of the hospital? My heart goes out to Rubye and all of Andy's friends and family. Thank you for supporting them in this difficult time. I will keep in touch.
Wishing strength & good thoughts for Andy & his loved ones for now. I'm so, so sorry.
Awful news. Wish I could say something more significant than "wish him my best" but that feels hollow. I'm so sorry to him and all his friends and family.
@Lisa, that study showed a promising result in mice in combination with radiation treatment. Similar tests on humans would take years more work and are indefinitely delayed by the legal status of cannabis. Some medical marijuana probably wouldn't hurt Andy and might make him feel better, but its efficacy for fighting a brain tumor is a long way from being proven.
I know this probably sounds ridiculous but I promise I am not a stoner... have they tried any treatment using Cannabis? For aggressive brain tumors specifically it has been CLINICALLY shown (and recently acknowledged even by the FDA) to shrink the tumors..even those in terminal cases. At this point it seems there certainly isn't harm in trying. Just thought I would share. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2014/11/18/marijuana-brain-cancer_n_6181060.html
FUCK! All my love during this shitty shitty situation.
I'm sad to say I'd not heard of Andy until David Huntsberger posted about this fundraiser online. I am so sorry for Andy, his friends, as well as Andy's family and girlfriend during this hard, hard time. My thoughts are with you.
I'm so sorry. Cancer is a fucking asshole! Hopefully Andy will have some peace. Love to his family and friends.
