On Monday night, my husband Andy was in a serious scooter accident while on his way home from work. He was flung off the bike and landed in the woods and we're not sure how long he was laying there until someone noticed and called 911. He was wearing his helmet but it snapped off when he hit the pavement so his face suffered the most damage of all. He was put on a breathing tube and taken to Dignity Health in Santa Maria where the staff has been taking exceptional care of him. 
This morning they took his breathing tube out and now he is speaking and drinking lots of water. Thankfully Andy is going to be just fine, but it's going to be a long road to recovery. As it stands, he has a fractured jaw, ribs, and cheek bones. His neck, spine and brain are all fine and he is experiencing some memory loss that the doctors say is common.
Andy will be out of work for some time and on a soft diet... if you know Andy you know he LOVES to eat so I'm going to try my best to make delicious meals he can sip through a straw. Thank God he taught me to cook so well! He can still use his hands so he'll be MY prep cook for once!
Currently, we share a car and the (now totaled) scooter. Crazy as it seems, it cost $425 just to get the totaled scooter out of the tow yard where it was for less than 12 hours! So basically, we need your help and your prayers! The money raised will all go towards Andy's medical bills not covered by insurance and the cosmetic surgury he will have to have for both his eyes and cheeks.
Andy is one of the proudest people I know so just my asking for help will probably embarass him but what are friends and family for right? Every cent helps and I appreciate you even taking the time to read this and consider a donation. Andy is subborn and a fighter and he will get through this. We have a strong and loving marriage and I promise to be right by his side and nurse him back to health! If he's lucky I may just invest in one of those hot nurse uniforms!!
