Andrew's Senegal Research Trip

A building needs a stable foundation... so I had two options: raise money to hire a local engineer, or I can go myself and do twice as much.

My flight tickets were already donated! As everything in Senegal is done by negotiating, I will continue to find the best deals.  All funds not spent after this reserach trip will go towards school construction early next year. I am raising money for the following expenses:
-AirBNB Night in Dakar: $23
-AirBNB 4 Nights in Saint Louis: $17 x 4 + fees: $76
-Round trip Dakar to Saint-Louis: ~$100
-Transport within Saint-Louis: ~$30
-Food & clean water ~$100
-Malaria pills and antibiotics: ~$50
-Tools for Soil Testing & Analysis: $50
-Work Permit & Building regulation fees: ~$50
-Incidentals: ~$100
TOTAL: $579

Again, all additional funds raised will go towards the school next year!

What I will be doing:
-Testing soil at property for drainage, strength and ground settlement
-Meeting local deliverers of materials to measure weights and dimensions; possibly negotiate and agree on prices for construction in 6-9 months
-Recruiting members of the community to construct school next year
-Meeting local government concerning work permits, boundary locations, and building regulations

This is the beginning of the project and thus the most important part of the project! Once we have this information, we may get corporate donations to the building this summer! Thank you friends and family!
