Andrew Linn’s Cancer Fight

Less than 6 week ago Andrew had no clue that he would be diagnosed with stage 4 synovial sarcoma, an extremely rare form of cancer. The primary tumor is in his left thigh area, and it has metastasized to both his lungs. The Dr. said you have the same chance of getting struck by lightening as being diagnosed with synovial sarcoma.
Andrew has had numerous Dr’s appointments and tests over that past 6 weeks, and it was recommended by Dr. Steensma ( the only sarcoma Dr on this side of the state), to seek treatment at U of M as they have a sarcoma clinic.
The initial treatment plan for Andrew is to undergo chemotherapy to see if the tumors in his lungs and thigh will shrink enough to be surgically removed. It will be a series of many surgeries. At this point, U of M will be placing a special port, and administering the first round of chemo therapy (4-10 hr days) in Ann Arbor in the next few weeks. They will decide how to proceed after that ( go to Ann Arbor for chemo, or have it done in Holland).
It has been talked about seeking treatment at Sloan Kettering in New York, or MD Anderson in Houston if the initial treatment at U of M is not successful. For now trusting the Dr’s and moving forward is all they can do.
Andrew will be working limited hours, if at all during this time, and Megan will be working when she can. All funds raised on this page will go directly towards all medical bills and expenses acquired during treatment at Holland Hospital, Lemmen- Holton, and U of M. It will also provide accomadations and transportation during treatment. Andrew and Megan are the direct beneficiaries and have been able to set up an account to directly remove funds when needed.
