**FUNDRAISER Part II: 08/27/19**
Hello everyone! I’m updating this fundraiser to increase the goal upto $20,000. We previously raised almost $6,000 back in April (thank you all!). It’s been awhile since I posted an update about my sister, Andrea. My sister was diagnosed back in February 2019 (see original post below) and ended her treatments with Kaiser at the end of July. She will have to continue with further treatments at The City of Hope, since the cancer has metastasized in very small areas. Remember, this cancer is considered to be a rare and aggressive disease. We all remain very HOPEFUL that she will get through this! This is just a small bump in her healing journey. She has remained STRONG, BRAVE, AND CONSISTENT in her healing.
The crappy part is that she will have to remain on her disability income because she cannot go back to work at this moment. She has to continue with her treatments (both conventional and alternative), but unfortunately with the HIGH hospital bills plus the cost of holistic supplements, acupuncture and healing plant foods/medicinal medicine, it all adds up and gets expensive.
Today, we have made the journey to MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, TX to seek guidance with an Oncologist Specialist who has led the research for more than 10 years in Small Cell Neuroendocrine Cancer of the Cervix. We are SO LUCKY we are able to see this doctor and get the help my sister deserves. I am updating this fundraiser to help Andrea raise additional needed funds to help pay for the above mentioned costs of medical bills, natural medicines, and daily life. *FUNDRAISER Part I: 04/05/19
My twin sister, Andrea, was diagnosed with Stage 2 Cervical Cancer. Her type of cancer is considered a rare and aggressive form, so her team of doctors immediately started her on a simultaneous treatment of chemotherapy & radiation for the next 8-12 weeks or more. This is a very harsh treatment as she will be getting a few rounds of 2 different types of chemotherapy. It will be a long road ahead of healing and recovery. She has already begun feeling chemo fatigue, weight loss, hair loss, and intense mix of emotions. Andrea is hopeful though! She has faith in her doctors and in her conventional therapy, but she also knows that complementary alternative therapies are instrumental in the healing process. Therefore, she is now seeking natural, alternative modalities such as body work (massage), regular acupuncture treatments, much needed herbs/supplements and guidance from a Certified Naturopathic Doctor that will complement her conventional cancer treatment in a safe & knowledgeable way. Alternative therapies can help Andrea feel more at ease, relieve her symptoms from chemo and radiation and give her the healing she deserves. Unfortunately, obtaining this complementary, alternative therapy is not cheap and is not covered by her health insurance.
She was working full time, but is now on disability indefinitely until she gets better. As we all know, state disability is barely enough to pay for her food, gas, bills and home.
Please help me raise funds to help Andrea obtain the alternative healing she needs to get through this. My sister is a beautiful, fun, happy and kind person who has always helped many before herself. It’s her time to receive all the love at this time.
