An Inconvenient Boob

My name is Cindy Molina Vazquez.  I am 42 years old I work for Hudson County Sheriff’s Office and have been there since 2008 . I am also a Massage Therapist and have been doing healing work since 2003 !
I was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer. The news came as shock to me because it has been my biggest fear since my mom passed away almost 12 years ago.  She died from breast cancer but when it was found it had metastasized into her lungs and spread to her bones. Needless to say her news came quickly and she was gone just as fast.  She left me, my dad and my two younger brothers in a state of disbelief.
Since loosing my mom I made a promise to be vigilant and take care of myself. I have been getting annual mammograms since age 35 and overall have had good health. The crazy thing is that this year when scheduling my mammogram I was asked by the scheduler if I was experiencing any pain in my breast and for some reason I said yes !  I wasn’t having pain and never had pain but that day I said YES.  I think an angel intervened and saved my life.
I had my mammogram and they found calcifications in my left breast and a fibroid in my right. Had two biopsy’s that revealed that I had cancer in my left side. Diagnosis was stage 0 DCIS. Right side was good.  Couple weeks later I had an MRI and a second area in my left breast lite up and they did my third biopsy. Low and behold... laying low and trying to hide from the scans they found that area to be stage 1 invasive Ductal carcinoma.  This “ghost” as I call it was trying to go undetected but thankful it was found!
My husband and I have been trying our best to be as normal as possible for our daughter. Sophia is 7 now so she asks questions about a lot of things. She is not aware of my diagnosis and don’t wanna scare her in any way.  So here we are a month into my diagnosis and a million appointments and unexpected expenses . Crazy how quickly ones sense of stability and security changes in a blink of an eye. We are in the process of harvesting my eggs for future fertility and that has been a process too.
All I ask is that my family be ok through this process and not be stressed any more than necessary.  I won’t be able to work until I’m ok and healthy again.  So I’m reaching out to those that can help us get through this time.  We will appreciate anything that you can give to us
Thank you & God bless
