Start a Church
I have found a calling - to help adults with troubled pasts begin a new chapter of life. I wish to found a church which will minister to those who need a helping hand to find a path above their past lives of abuse, addiction, crime, poverty, and homelessness. I am calling this Pathfinders Church. I am seeking start-up funds to get this off the ground.
I need help with initial start-up costs, legal fees, filing fees, and funds to begin the initial programs. Pathfinders Church, Inc. is a registered non-profit corporation in the State of Kansas and will be based in Overland Park, KS. We have not yet received approval as a 501(c)3 charity from the IRS, yet, but that is pending.
Here is my vision of Pathfinders Church, Inc.
Pathfinders Church, Inc. is a non-denominational, not-for-profit organization devoted to helping adults find their life path. Pathfinders focuses on breaking cycles of abuse, addiction, poverty, and homelessness by providing safe, loving environments where individuals can partner with caring people who will help them build a foundation for finding their path and growing to their potential. Pathfinders provides a hand up, not a hand out. These paths are long and winding - filled with bumps, obstacles and distractions. It takes love and patience to help guide someone with a troubled past along that path. Through faith and love, we help people be better than they ever thought they could be.
We are not a shelter. Our members open their homes to adults who need the stability and love of a home and family. Our members welcome them into their families and provide short and long term loving, trusting homes where they can feel safe, secure and loved. The basic necessities are provided by the members with the help of the Church. Seekers are provided privacy and freedom to build their lives and find their path.
Pathfinders Church is staffed by people who have lived the lives and fought the demons of abuse, addiction, poverty, homelessness, and criminal convictions. They have risen above their pasts and now provide spiritual and practical guidance to others in the community who are also fighting those pasts. These paths are long and winding - filled with bumps, obstacles and distractions. It takes love and patience to help guide someone with a troubled past along that path.
It also takes money. The money we raise goes directly back to our community in many ways:
- Acquiring a meeting space
- Continued training for our Guides in how to properly counsel adults in trouble
- Job search and resume counseling
- Work programs and skills training
- Family subsidies to ensure Seekers always have the basic necessities
- Clothes, shoes and personal care items suitable for job interviews and social functions
- Transportation to interviews
- Social events to help teach comfort in varying social situations
Your donations go a long, long way toward helping people become vital, productive members of society - not just forgotten refuse to be walked by and discarded.
