The Amsterdam-based organizations PLEK /HoP and I (David) are curating the project Amsterdam Migrant Women Theatre Group and would love you to join us and be a key participant in making this dream come true.
Your contribution will allow women who answer our callout to receive the basic training in the technique of Forum Theatre , followed by regular meetings. The series of meetings of the Amsterdam Migrant Women Theatre Group will provide them a deeper understanding of the technique, strengthen the existing ties among each other, and create a Forum Theatre play out of their desires, struggles and necessities. You will be cordially invited to our theatre play once we have defined its details.
Inspired by the works of various women, their Forum Theatre projects and international networks, we would like to gather activist women who identify with the situation of migration for a theatre project, here in Amsterdam.
Why/When/How - Details of the Amsterdam Migrant Women Theatre Group campaign:
This is a nonprofit project and we are all volunteering in it. The costs of the campaign are for transportation, food allowance and the basic materials for the training and meetings. It will all happen at OT301: Overtoom, 301, Amsterdam.
Uriara Marciel is the mentor, trainer and artistic director of the project - Brazilian and Berlin-based actress, cultural producer and Theatre of the Oppressed Joker , part of the Ma(g)dalenas International Network (Theatre of the Oppressed for Women), Anastácia Collective Berlin (Theatre of the Oppressed for Black Women) and Kakalakas Collective, also in Berlin (Theatre for Latin American Migrant Women in Germany).
Schedule - from the kick-start to the presentation of the play:
*Sep. 29-30th: Introduction to Forum Theatre workshop for the women group - €300.
*October (end of the month): training and rehearsals - €200.
*November(end of the month): training and rehearsals - €200.
*December: training, rehearsals and presentation of a Forum Theatre Play - €200. - which you will receive 2 invitations for the show!
TOTAL - €900.
*In between Uriara's sessions, the women from our PLEK theatre group 'unTheatre' will be following up with the progress of the play.
This fundraising is directed to our local friends in Amsterdam. But if you feel like collaborating and/or volunteering in this specific project or other similar ones that are related to LGBTQI+ and Mental Health struggles as themes for our community and theatrical experimentations, let us know!
