Running AMOK for Empty Tomb
Donation protected
First things first: what the heck is this AMOK thing?
AMOK is the Annual Melee of Kindness, an annual event created by the nonprofit Random Acts, an organization whose goal is to conquer the world one random act of kindness at a time. Participants all around the world are encouraged to engage in acts of kindness large and small over the weekend of the event, which this year is March 5 & 6.
That weekend happens to coincide with a local fundraising event in my community: the annual Mega Work-a-Thon for empty tomb inc., a Christian organization dedicated to preventing poverty conditions. With support of the rector of my church, I and other members of my church family are participating in the Mega Work-a-Thon as our act of kindness for AMOK.
So where do you come in?
This is a very modest funding request, actually. Empty tomb is setting a fundraising goal to be used in their "No-Late-Bills Reserve Fund" which helps people in need pay their utility bills. The goal is $80 per participating individual (like me). :) Along with raising funds, we are gathering food and supplies to be distributed to families in need.
Now, I can come up with some of this, and easily. Heck, I could probably come up with all of it if I need to. But I know many of my friends (especially my online friends!) are supporters of Random Acts and AMOK and are looking for ways to support. So I thought I would give you an opportunity to support this project!
ANY amount is welcome: $1, $5, $10, whatever you like. It's ALL important, and it ALL matters.
I chose "gofundme" because AMOK is less than a month away, and also because the amount I need is really quite small, all things considered. I'll be running this campaign until March 1, at which point all money collected will be given to the empty tomb. (Technically, I'll be giving the money to my church, which will collect all the donations in the parish and present them as one large donation to empty tomb.) Your donation will be used to help prevent poverty conditions by helping keep lights on, keep heat on, and keep water running.
So if you're looking for a quick, easy way to run AMOK yourself, I hope you'll consider giving to this campaign. I'm happy to stop at $80, and equally happy to have more to give! And if you have any questions at all, please don't hesitate to ask.
Thank you so much! And always remember to #getkind.
