Amen Ra Squad Debates ASCAC

Donation protected
On April 18-21 2019, the beloved Amen-Ra Squad (ARS) will participate in the 36th Annual Conference of the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations (ASCAC) in New York city. At this conference there will be a special series of presentations in which the ARS will present the latest scholastic findings concerning the debate on the meaning of the place-name Kemet in the ancient Egyptian language. We are currently raising funds to help minimalize our expenses, which include (but are not limited to) lodging and transportation for the duration of the conference.

The current debate topic has generated commentary and opinions from around the world: in online communities and in scholastic journals. Research discussions, initiated by ARS members, on this topic has reached the halls of academia and the scholastic world is forced to address our findings. In the African tradition of intellectual refinement and the seeking of truth (mAa.t), the ASCAC organization has agreed to engage this topic at this year’s conference, from many vantage points, in hopes to get to the bottom of the issue as we seek further clarity of important classical African themes and ideas.

The ARS appreciates the love and support given to us throughout the years and we further seek your help in raising this conversation to the academic level. Since 2010, the ARS (through various social media platforms) has promoted Afrocentric scholarship, philosophy, and culture, as well as scientific literacy. We have successfully achieved this through a number of community, academic, and online presentations; through educational programs; animated films; and a number of texts authored by members, which include topics from classical African history, philosophy, community development, evolution and natural selection, and the ancient Egyptian hieroglyphic writing system.

On April 18-21, the online community (the Independent Afrikan Akadamy) and the halls of academy meet in a historical engagement of academic rigor not seen for this topic since the famous 1974 Cairo Symposium where this debate first began. Again, we seek your monetary support to help ease the burden of travel and lodging, and in return we will ensure that 1) we represent the community well, and 2) each session is recorded and will be presented online for everyone to review. We thank you for your support and every little bit counts towards ensuring that this event happens.
