Amanda’s Lazy Liver Benefit
Donation protected
Amanda received a liver transplant in June of 2017 due to damage caused from Primary Biliary Cholangitis (PBC), and auto immune hepatitis. In the beinging she was doing great. Her diseases hadn’t returned, and she was able to go back to work in October of ‘17.
In the spring of 2018 Amanda had a doctors appointment and we found out that the PBC had returned. The doctors were hopeful they could control her disease with medication at that point. It worked for a short period of time, but then in July of ‘18 Amanda started rejecting her liver. She was in and out of the hospital every other week from July ‘18 - Sept ‘18. She would be on strong IV meds at the hospital and start to get better, and then they would send her home and it would get worse again.
Things finally calmed down in Oct ‘18, and Amanda was officially out of Rejection. However there was a large amount of damage caused to her liver so she will need another transplant. It’s just a matter of when at this point.
Throughout all of this Amanda has been unable to work, and her doctors had her apply for disability. She has been approved, however she will not start receiving benefits until Feb ‘19. Throughout this process Amanda has had amazing support from her friends and family. We are raising money to help with the rest of her bills before she starts getting her disability payments, and to pay her deductible on her Insurace when it starts over Jan 1st. Anything you can do help would be very much appreciated, even if it’s just sharing her story with someone else that might be able to help.
