A Wheelchair For Zoila

My name is Emily and this is Zoila. She lives in Misioneras de la Caridad, an orphange for the disabled in Cusco, Peru. She's 14-years-old and lives her life in a wheelchair. Despite her disabilities, Zoila is a happy and loving girl.

In the photo it looks like Zoila is just leaning her head back. However, this is the position Zoila must be in most of the time because her wheelchair is three sizes too small. Her neck does not have the strength to hold up her head and the chair is not equipped with the needed head supports. Zoila spends her days staring up at the ceiling, so sores and tumors are developing on the back of her head and neck. Since Zoila is still growing this will continue to cause major problems for her into the future.

My sisters and I want Zoila to have a new wheelchair. We've calculated our fundraising goal by adding together the price of the wheelchair, the fees taken by GoFundMe and the cost for getting Zoila's chair to Peru. We are working to raise funds through lemonade stands and other small fundraisers. However, we want Zoila's life to improve as soon as possible, so we are going to see if this page can help us get to our goal faster. Once we've raised the funds, we will purchase Zoila's new wheelchair and if possible fly to Peru to give it to her in person. Any amount you can give will contribute to giving this child a better life.
