If you have ever wondered where the peace-loving, social-justice-seeking Humanist / Atheist / Agnostic / Secular / Christian / Jewish / Muslim / Buddhist / Wiccan goes to find community, here we are! And we need you. All Souls Unitarian Universalist Church is a progressive, liberal church in the heart of Kansas City. Our values are best reflected in our covenant, which we reaffirm each Sunday morning:

This is our great covenant.
To dwell together in peace,
To seek the truth in love,
And to help one another.
Our mission is to build a respectful, caring community; inspire personal and spiritual growth; and create a just and compassionate society. We do this by showing up. We are the people who go to the marches. We are the people who Stand on the Side of Love and for whom Black Lives Matter. We are united by our desire to always be growing into the people we hope to become, and to help make the world we share a better place for everyone. We address current social justice issues at our forum, which has hosted speakers on raising the minimum wage, reproductive rights, white privilege, Voter ID laws, the Dakota Access Pipeline, and we also host the Mayor’s annual state of the city address. We believe in the inherent worth and dignity of every person, no matter your religious beliefs. And we work together to seek justice and peace.
Now our progressive community needs help from those who have found us and those whom we serve—whether on Sunday mornings or at meetings of other progressive organizations hosted at our church. These organizations include groups fighting for nuclear disarmament, gun regulation, equal access to healthcare, voting rights, civil rights, ending racism, ending sexism and misogyny, and a myriad of other social justice issues.
Even though we are a healthy, growing community, we face financial hardship. We are seeking donations from the larger community, along with our members, to address a budget shortfall that would impact our religious education, music programming and staff salaries in the 2017-2018 budget year. Cuts to these programs and staffing would slow our growth and, more importantly, impact our future socially conscious youth. Your donations to our organization will prevent us from having to stem our progressive momentum.
We are asking for the help of our progressive allies, those organizations and their members who are also seeking justice and equality in this country. If you have ever attended a meeting at our church, could you help? If you have ever joined a march or a rally with members of All Souls, could you help? If you think our mission is worthwhile in these times of division, could you help?
