Allison Robitaille - Fire Recovery

Last night, four days before Christmas and one day before her birthday, my sister Allison's apartment was destroyed by a 3 alarm fire. Thankfully, everyone was able to get out with no injuries. However, with most 3 alarm fires they lost all of their personal possessions, clothes, shoes, computers, pictures etc. Being a rental, unfortunately there is no insurance to replace those items. The Red Cross has helped with temporary housing and small gift cards to get by the next few days which are very helpful but will not put a dent into her getting back to where she was just yesterday.   

For those of you that know me well know the struggles Allison has had over the last many years. Over the last 10-12 months, she has been in the best place I have seen her since High School. I am so proud of her. She is finally completely independent, lives on her own and is working a full time job to support her and 9 year old daughter. In the past, she has called me crying more times than I can count, but this time was different. Much different. The sense of pride she has achieved over the last year seemed to have been taken away from her over night by an unfortunate act completely out of her control. Everything she has saved for including her personal belongings, the Christmas gifts she bought for her daughter Madison, all destroyed. She is determined to not let this break her new found spirit and I want to do everything I can to help her continue down this path.

I debated all morning if I was going to do this, but here I am - asking my friends for a bit of support to help get her back on her feet.  She was forced to leave in a bathrobe and slippers this morning and that is the extent that she was left with today. I know it is Christmas season and extra money is hard to come by, but if you can spare a few extra dollars to help, I will be forever grateful.
