Blaze Garrett is from Abilene, Texas and has been playing at Wylie Little League for the past 5 years. He has also played on the All-Star team for two years. Last year his team won both district and sectionals, making it to the state little league tournament that was held in Abilene. This year he is on the Senior All-Star team for Wylie Little League, who just won district last week. He will start sectionals this week with the hopes of returning to State, which will be held at Wylie Little League fields in Abilene, Texas.
On June 5, 2017 he attended the USSSA All-American Showcase/Tryouts in Mansfield, Texas for the 2017 All-American Games that will take place August 6, 2017 - August 12, 2017 at the ESPN World Wide Sports Complex at Walt Disney World in Florida. This showcase divides the 50 states into 8 regions with two teams in each division; The American and The National. Only 28 players can represent each of the 8 regions with 14 players in the National and 14 in the American. Two tryouts were held in each region with over 300 participants at each tryout, for a total of 5,000 kids competing for a spot on the All-American team. These kids were scouted and graded on a MLB 20/80 scale, which consisted of running speed, velocity, and batting. 224 kids were offered the opportunity to represent one of the 8 regions in the United States and Blaze WAS CHOSEN to represent the Far West Region!
This is a chance of a lifetime for Blaze to participate, and be offered a position, on the All-American team! He will go to Florida and represent Wylie Little League and Abilene, Texas as a community. This however is a very costly opportunity as everything is the responsibility of the participant. Blaze has been working (mowing grass, building fences, and helping at a ranch) and will continue to work when he is not competing to get his All-Star team to the State Tournament.
Blaze has overcome a lot of adversity in his journey to become the best baseball player he can be, which would not have been possible without the love and support of many people. His coaches, especially which have had a huge impact on him, they have given him the opportunity to play baseball at a higher level.
Any donation would be greatly appreciated from Blaze, so that he may get to attend this once in a lifetime sporting event and represent the Wylie Little League as well as the Abilene community.
