FRANCAIS

ENGLISH

Hi, my name is Alix, I'm 21 years old. I opened this GofundMe because I am in need of help to get better.

When I was 15 I struggled with Anorexia (I'm recovered now.) however, even though I recovered mentally, my body did not. During my Anorexia, some parts of my body were deprived of enough oxygen, my digestive system mostly. As a consequence, my digestive system was severley weakened and impaired and I became ill with Gastroparesis which is a motility disorder of the stomach. My stomach is essentialy mostly or at least partially paralyzed.
The rest of my GI system is not functionning correctly either. I suffer from enterogastric reflux (the valve that separates the large intestine from the small intestine doesn't work so contents from the colon can flow back into the small intestine and bile and digestive fluids from the small intestine can flow back into the stomach, unabling the stomach from funtionning correctly) and SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth -bacteria overgrows in the small intestine when there shouldn't be many bacteria there compared to the colon which contains billions of bacteria.)

Since a year and a half, I have been unable to eat and drink enough to stay alive so I am fed via artificial IV nutrition also called Total Parenteral Nutrion (TPN) and stay hydrated with the help of IV fluids.

I am being seen by quite a few doctors but I have started seeing a specialist recently who is performing many various tests and hopefully eventually putting together a treatment plan.
In the past, I had hoped that a certain procedure called Fecal Microbiota Transplant (FMT)  would help me recover however, the new specialist explained that this FMT would not be helpful if I am still so ill with Gastroparesis and SIBO.
Unfortunately, these new tests and eventul treatments are quite expensive and this is why I need some help.

I know I've still got a long way to go before I get better but I'm hopeful.
Please don't take your health for granted, many don't have a healthy functionnig body although that is all we wish for.

Even if you cannot donate, it would mean a lot if you could just click the "share" button :)

Lots of love,
Alix

UPDATE October 2018: I have been diagnosed with Late Stage Lyme Disease aka Chronic Lyme Disease.
I am glad to finally have answers and to be able to put a name to everything that  has happened to me over the past 3 years. I have started treatment and am hoping it will bring positive results. I will keep making updates as to how things go. In the meantime, if you can and would like to donate, I would be so grateful as none of the treatments are covered by insurance  since Lyme Disease is not recognised as a disease.
