Alice Holbrook

On November 8th 2018 we signed the paperwork to purchase our first home. With our children getting older we were both able to work full time. Then our youngest daughter Alice who is 6 was having some balance problems and issues with her eyes. Her optometrist suggested that we see a pediatric surgeon. Thank goodness he did. The surgeon examined her and suggested we go to The Colorado Children’s Hospital and have an emergent MRI. That was on the 13th. We stayed at the hospital from the 13th to the 17th. The results of the MRI we’re unclear so the neurosurgeons suggested a Biopsy.Thursday the 29th we got some test results back from Alices biopsy. From the results we know she has a high grade aggressive cancerous tumor. It is in the pons, which is in the middle of the brain stem and is the information superhighway for body movements, eating, swallowing, eye movement,and what makes you (you)!!! As far as we know there is nothing that will make this go away. The doctors at The Colorado Children's Hospital tell us that out of the last 5 years they have only seen 10 cases that were close to the same. The doctors tried Kemo and radiation on other patients it did not work. Our goal right now is to keep Alice as comfortable as possible as long as possible. We will be starting radiation to help with her symptoms. We are looking in to other treatments. The doctors estimated that it will take her from us, anywhere from 6mo to a year. We are trying to make it the best year for her. We are starting a go fund me for Alice to help with getting Alice as much as possible as well as caring for her, we have decided to have Kasie quit her job and take care of Alice full time. Because we will be losing that income we’re not sure how we will be able to get Alice back and forth to her treatments and pay our mortgage. So Any and all help is greatly appreciated
