My name is Alex Santarelli and I am a seventeen-year-old Entrepreneur/App Developer. I am currently finishing my junior year of high school. I come from a single parent household, my Dad lost his battle with Brain Cancer ten years ago. Since his death, it has motivated me to do as much as I can with the time I’ve been given. This early life lesson has fueled my passion for impacting people through technology and design.

Due to my mom’s limited financial resources, I became an entrepreneur at an early age, buying and selling retro video games. I knew I needed a Mac to accelerate my passion for technology.

Once I was able to buy a Mac, I started teaching myself iOS programming. It was a lengthy process, with many obstacles.

In June of 2014, I was given the opportunity to attend an iOS programming camp at MIT for two weeks. Looking back, this opportunity opened the door to a world of possibilities.  A few weeks after leaving MIT, my first app was released on the App Store.

Later that year, constructed out of need, I created the Central York High School App. It quickly became an essential tool for every student at CYHS. This app went on to win first place nationally at the 2015 Future Business Leaders of America, Mobile App Development Competition. You can download the app here .

From there, I was awarded a Facebook student scholarship to attend F8, the annual Facebook Developer’s Conference. In 2016 I was again able to attend F8, meeting Sheryl Sanberg (COO of Facebook) and Mike Schroepfer (CTO of Facebook).

It is my belief that all of these tremendous opportunities have steered me to (LeanGap) this route.

LeanGap  is a high school student start-up accelerator program. For six weeks, a highly selected (approximately forty out of one-thousand two-hundred applicants from all around the world) group of teenagers from around the world come together to build real, scalable companies. I was fortunate enough to have been chosen for the LeanGap class of 2016.

LeanGap unfortunately has limited scholarship money available. Although I secured a spot, only a fraction of the tuition was covered. I am asking for your help towards the remaining LeanGap tuition balance. The tuition for LeanGap is due on June 1st.

In the short two weeks at MIT I was able to achieve things I never thought were possible. With six weeks at LeanGap this will lay the foundation for what’s ahead.

Everything happens for a reason. Nothing occurs by chance, it’s all part of God’s plan.

It is my hope to one day provide this opportunity to the next generation of entrepreneurs.

To show my gratitude and progress, you can check out my website (alexsantarelli.com) to see everything that happens this summer.

Thank you!
