In October 2016, Alex and Dougal's medal winning performance at the 2016 WorldSkills Australia National Competition earned them a place on the Worldskills Australia Skills Squad team among Australia’s best young skilled apprentices and trainees.
Alex and Dougal , along with 17 of Australia’s current National Champions from their particular trade or skill has now been succesfully selected to join the elite *2017 Skillaroos forming part of Team Australia that will go on to represent Australia at the world’s largest vocational skills competition – the WorldSkills International Competition, which will take place in Abu Dhabi in October 2017.
Alex and Dougal are working tirelessly every day to reach their goal of winning the Gold Medal while representing their country in Abu Dhabi. Often referred to as the Olympic Games for Skills and Trades, the WorldSkills International Competition will see the world’s best trade young men and women, from 76 nations, compete in 50 different categories for the title of World Champion.
To ensure Alex and Dougal have the best possible chance of winning a medal, they are now taking on an intensive training program and along with their mentors, category experts and a team of dedicated volunteers Alex and Dougal will train and develop their skills, their decision making abilities and build the resilience needed to compete against the world’s best.
With your help we can provide Alex and Dougal with the best possible opportunity to achieve their full potential, represent WorldSkills Australia at the International Competition in Abu Dhabi in October and come home with a medal.
