Alex's Students on Ice trip
Donation protected
My name is Alex Nnamchi, a McGill University student from the class of 2018. I have been given the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join the Students On Ice Arctic Expedition from July 24, 2018. I urgently need to raise $13,000 to fund my participation .
The Students On Ice Arctic Expedition is an amazing educational opportunity that invites 150 students out of tens of thousands of applicants on a polar expedition to study wildlife, native culture, and global warming.
In partnership with Break The Divide and Akaraka , my main focus will be to experience and gain insight into the indigenous Inuit culture, how they have survived in extreme conditions for thousands of years, the threats to their environment and the social problems their communities face as a result. Problems such as alcoholism, suicide, and drug abuse will only worsen if their ecosystem and way of life continues to be eroded.
In appreciation, I will bring my adventures and discoveries on the expedition to your doorsteps by documenting my day-to-day experiences in the Arctic through social media. Before and after this trip, I plan to raise awareness of life in the Arctic and the environmental threats we all face through research papers, talks, and volunteering in charities and communities linked to fighting for environmental and indigenous causes.
If I am to raise more funds than intended, the surplus will be donated to local charities and foundations.
Thank you very much for your consideration, time and kind donation.
