Alex's Legacy for Andrew Ty
Donation protected
Alex Torres' nephew, Andrew Ty, was born in October of 2006, in Holland, Michigan to his proud mom, Andrea Torres. In his later toddler years, his family began to notice his difficulty with sight. At age 5, Andrew Ty was diagnosed with a degenerative genetic disorder, Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP), which is gradually causing him to go blind.
It is no surprise that now 12 year old Andrew Ty's kindness is the first quality his teachers, family and friends talk about when describing him. His challenges have not changed his positive outlook on life and kindness towards others.
Andrea raises Andrew Ty as a single mom with the help of her devoted family, especially her brothers, Alex and Aaron. Andrew Ty looks up to his uncles and certainly learned the value of kindness from his uncle Alex. Alex and Aaron have devoted their time, energy, and resources to being strong and loving male influences in Andrew Ty's life - their bond is unbreakable. They shared their love of nature with Andrew Ty by spending a lot of time together hiking and camping.
As you may know, Alex unexpectedly passed away after a tragic accident when he lost his footing and fell from a cliff. Alex was attending a wedding reception with his wife, Marly, at Starved Rock State Park, in Illinois on July 28, 2019. Alex would have wished to be a continuing influence in Andrew Ty's life but this tragedy took away his opportunity to be physically at Andrew Ty's side.
We have created a legacy fund so Alex can continue his love and support for Andrew Ty and ensure that he and his mom can respond to Andrew Ty's increasing needs.
We thank you in advance for contributing in Alex's honor for his nephew's future. We will forever miss Alex but we know he lives on in Andrew Ty.
