Alejandro was born in Septeber 9, 2011 in Caguas, Puerto Rico. A beautiful child, inteligent and with a spark of happiness that becomes very contagious to everyones that comes to know him. His beautiful smile, the brightness in his eyes and the golden locks in his head witness the desire to live that accompanies Alejandro.
Until he was three (3) years old, he was a very healthy child, with a normal development and an incredible musical direction. By the end of January of 2015, all his happiness was interrupted; the look in his eyes became a sad one, saddening everyone that surrounds him. All of this was caused by the appearance of his first comvulsion and then, by being diagnosed with epilepsy. The treatments started, medical exams, visits to different doctors, but a couple of months after another horrible news were delivered: Alejandro was diagnosed with Lennox Gastaut Syndrome. Very little is known of this disease. It is a childhood epilepsy of difficult management that is caracterized by frequent convulsions and sometimes is accompanied by intellectual disabilities and behavioral problems. In some cases, this syndrome may cause the death of the patient. The difficulty of the syndrome is based on the fact that the seizures often don't respond to seizure medications. The intellectual changes do not respond to any currently available medicine or treatment either.
As Alejandro's parents we are very concerned with his current situation. We are in desperate need of something that can make his condition better and get our playful kid back. The money we are raising will be used to cost current treatments, trips to other states in search of an alternative medication, medical exams, and other medical costs that come with this type of condition. The sooner you can help, the better. Alejandro needs to be treated as soon as posible because with time his condition becomes worse.
As Alejandro's parents, the situation we have experienced is a very difficult one. Imagine seeing your four (4) year old son having a very drastic seizure. We cannot begin to explain all the emotions I can feel all at once; desperation, sadness, impotence, frustration, ext. Within all, we have faith in our All Mighty God. We know he has control of the situation and that He will help us during this journey.
Having your help would mean the world to us. Alejandro, more than anyone, will be eternally grateful because you contributed to his well-being. What matters to us is the heart with which the donation is made, not the quantity. Donate what your heart indicates you. Most importantly, we ask you to keep Alejandro and our family in your prayers. We know that one day we will be posting to give you the testimony that Alejandro is no longer a Lennox Gastaut Syndrome patient.
