Albano family

Today our community and beyond, mourn the loss of a wonderful man. On June 23rd our beloved friend and Athens Ohio community member Tad Albano was struck by a "hit and run" driver. He spent over 2.5 days at Grant Medical Center on life support in the ICU with critical injuries. He fought with all he had and we were all so hopeful. He was even referred to as a "miracle patient" by the staff there. Sadly, today, June 26th, he has passed...the damage just too severe.
Tad’s passing leaves many friends and loved ones (including 6 amazingly beautiful children and their mother Adrienne, as well as a whole community of soccer enthusiasts and admirers of his work as a landscaper) devastated by this loss.
This fund was initially created by Jodie, the Dezio-Albano family’s long-time homeschooling and soccer pal. Since then, help and support from many more of those that love this family has come in many forms.
The fund was started with the intent to help Tad's family get through this crisis by providing coverage of basic needs and living expenses such as housing, rent/mortgage/lodging in Columbus/ car payment/car maintenance/repairs, gas money, propane, utilities, bills, food and other necessities related to care of the children and family that may arise. Really it was/is to be used in any capacity that helps relieve the financial burden/stress that this devastating loss creates.
The unbelievable growth of the fund over these three days is a testament to just how much this incredible man and family are loved. Just read the FB posts of so many who knew him and you will clearly hear the overwhelming love and respect people have for Tad and his family.
“He changed the lives of countless young people through his infectious enthusiasm and approach to soccer as a life skill. Kids and parents alike adored him” is just one example.

Tad was a long-time community advocate of youth development in soccer. He owned and operated the Athens Soccer Academy along with a landscaping company called Gardening Ghost. He has been a mentor to countless Athens youth over the years. He gave much to our community and has positively impacted so many lives. It is truly inspirational to see the community give back and support his family both financially and emotionally during this difficult time. Albano family, know that you are loved. We hope that you feel that love.
Athens and extended family, you are a remarkable community and we, the friends of the Albanos thank you.

Tad, your gentle, supportive spirit will be missed beyond measure.

RIP coach.
