Alaska2Chile: Disadvantaged Kids
Hello everyone! We are raising money on behalf of Bolivia Digna Foundation. They are a small, locally run, registered charity based in Cochabamba, Bolivia. For over 10 years now they have been working in two communities to promote and defend the rights of children living in poverty.
In August 2018 we aim to travel more than 20,000 miles over land from the most northern point in North America, to the most southern tip of South America. We envisage the journey taking us approximately 7 months to complete.
The trip will be very challenging as we make our way through 16 countries and while this will be a trip of a lifetime for us, we also wanted to take the opportunity to give something back along the way.
With this in mind we have been fortunate to team up with Bolivia Digna Foundation. Beyond just raising money, this will give us the chance to take a hands on approach working and living in Bolivia alongside fellow volunteers over the course of one month.
Where does your money go?
The foundation we are working with are raising money for a variety of projects. 90% of all donations will go directly the charity, with 10% covering our accommodation and meals whilst we are there. Below is a list of the current projects;
- Allowing children to regularly receive 3 meals a day and improve their poor diet.
- Providing milk on a daily basis to infants
- Funding the buying of books to create a library of leisure for children to read
- Purchasing clothes and school materials
- Acquiring first aid kits
- Buying general material for sports and creative projects
- Subsidising day excursions for the children
What to donate?
We recommend a donation of $10 as this would go a long way to supporting the projects listed above but any donation no matter the size is welcome. Of course we’d happily accept larger donations too! Ultimately, even just $1 would be a great help.
Our goal is to raise $1 for every mile that we travel, which would amount to almost $20,000 for Bolivia Digna.
For more detailed information on our trip in general then please check out our website. If you are not interested in donating then we’d still be delighted for you to follow us on our adventure at www.allwesea.com

Thank You,
Melissa & Pete
