Healthcare for Alaska's Homeless

Donation protected

We are PA students training to practice medicine in Anchorage, Alaska.  We were chosen to attend the PA program here in Anchorage because every last one of us has a strong connection to Alaska.  We all plan on practicing medicine here after our training is complete.

One of our jobs as future healthcare providers is to understand the needs of our most vulnerable patients.  In Alaska, those without adequate housing are hugely vulnerable to poor health.  Especially during our winter months, our homeless residents suffer greatly.

It is a tradition every March for Anchorage PA students to partner with Brother Francis Homeless Shelter and Alaska Health Fair Inc to host a health fair for the homeless.  We bring as many individuals as we can in from the cold, and warm them up with caring conversation, health education and medical evaluations.

All participating partners volunteer their time for free.  But some of the event resources come at a cost.  Basic supplies for the health fair cost $500.  In addition, blood work is done that costs $45 per person.

Our goal is to pay the program fees and provide important screening blood work to 100 people.  We need $5000 to accomplish this!

Help us do our part in caring for our vulnerable homeless patients!  Consider donating to this important event as part of your holiday or New Year giving.  Thank you!
