After spending 23 years in the AF my husband retired in 2003. He has been very healthy except for his diabetes. On Sept 3rd this year our lives were changed forever. He had started having some trouble catching his breath one night so I rushed him to the Emergency room. We found out right away he was only at 70% for his oyxgen saturation. He spent one week in intensive care only to find out he has terminal pulmonary fibrosis. He also has a very bad case of rheumatoid arthritis all through his body including in his lungs. As soon as he was discharged I got in touch with the Mayo Hospital in Jacksonville FL. Again, we were told his lungs are completely diseased and he needs a double lung transplant right away. He is on 100% oyxgen and uses anywhere from 4 liters sitting to 8 liters when he walks. He has declined so fast that I am having to wash him and dress him. He gets out of O2 so fast. We will leave to meet theveryone transplant team this Tues am. He will be in the hospital at least 3 months from start to finish. That means he won't be working and I won't be working for at least the first month to stay by his side. We have a 13 year old daughter at home that I will also need help with. I'm asking everyone to please help anyway you can. My husband is an amazing man that spent 23 years serving his country and I want him to be able to not worry who will make the mortgage payments, electric and groceries while he undergoes this huge double lung transplant. I love you all and thank for your donations and prayers. I promise to keep yall informed every step of this journey.
