Aikido of Santa Cruz - Sustain our Dojo Building

Hello, I’m Linda Holiday.  I’m the chief instructor of Aikido of Santa Cruz, on the central coast of California.  Our dojo was one of the first Aikido schools in northern California, in the early 70’s.  In 1982, we became a nonprofit educational organization.  We are dedicated to serving the local community and the larger community, through the practice of Aikido, O-Sensei’s Art of Peace.

Over the next six weeks, our goal is to raise $7,000 to cover major repairs and improvements to our dojo building. We are inviting you to join with us now, to provide the support we need to sustain our building into the future.

It was due to the support of many people in the Aikido world, that we were able to buy our spacious dojo building in Santa Cruz, where so many of you have enjoyed training.  Together, we transformed it into a permanent home for Aikido -- a community resource.

As a non-profit organization, we are the stewards of this wonderful Aikido building.  Thousands of people of all ages, from dojos near and far, have joined us for daily classes, for annual Winter Intensives and Summer Retreats, and for Friendship Seminars with many Senseis from around the world.  The building has made it all possible.

In the last couple of years, we’ve had to pay for major building repairs, thousands of dollars, taxing our dojo budget.  In addition, we’ve had to replace our old mats, and we’ve installed solar panels.  These are significant expenses now, for the sake of a sustainable future.

We ask for your support.  Your contribution will help Aikido of Santa Cruz cover these major expenses, which are simply beyond the scale of our general operating budget.  Our goal is to reach at least $7,000 by January 26th; our stretch goal $10,000.  Every donation, large or small, makes a difference.

Thank you for being our community, for joining us in joyful practice, for keeping Aikido alive and well.…and for helping us now, with a donation that will sustain our dojo building as a resource for all of us, for many years to come.

Onegai shimasu!  I look forward to seeing you on the Aikido mat soon. Come and train with us, in our Winter Intensive Week, January 20-26!

Thank you so much for your support!
