I wanted to thank everyone who has been on this journey with us and hopefully now you understand how uncertain this road can get.....starting with the main surgery (Fontan),the second and third emergency surgeries required after complications, the heart catheterization (where the clot was found in his aorta) and then the baby root canal and capping all of his teeth (he had a cavity that needed to be addressed and after a month of being there, this was their solution)......Aiden was a true hero,he endured in one day what most of us couldn't handle in a year, constantly being poked,pulled,repositioned,re-bandaged,intubated,awoken every 2 hours for stats and meds! The simple things that made him happy at home were denied him or done in a different manner, such as bathing him or letting him have cake!
My heart goes out to those families we left behind, those that have been there for months and will be there much longer!I need them to know that I understand and I will pray for them everyday!
This GoFundMe has been a blessing and a curse.....every post came from my heart but I did not know if you saw it that way or if you saw it as me begging! The blessing is that some of you understood and gave when and if you could!
Not knowing if all of the money would be needed,if we would be there a week-a month or more! Having this as a safety net, being able to pay our bills, get food, gas and necessities was a blessing.....we were able to put all of our focus on Aiden and not worry! Thank you for that!
With all of that said and this surgery behind us,I want to thank those that helped with out knowing,or not knowing us directly......Toys for Tots-how amazing that on Christmas day, there was a room full of gifts available for all of the children at the hospital, that came from strangers!!! The Harley Davidson saints.....they came to the hospital every month, set up on every floor and handed out pizza and drinks to families(the ones walking around in a daze who forgot to eat that day)! The toy runs that we only heard about but didn't see the bigger picture......who else, besides me,pictured a bunch of grizzly looking characters on Harley's,driving around picking up stuff and then not knowing anything else about the ride or the out come?NOW I know.......these grizzly guys make a difference! It doesn't matter if they have a Harley or a moped,If their day job is a lawyer or a bookie, they take time to make a family happy and I hope you thank one (Dennis, thank you!!!) ....as easy as that and it's the least I can do for all that they have done! I get it and I hope I can give forward from here just as much as they do!
The various organizations that take the time to create a meal and serve it to families at the Ronald McDonald House, they didn't know us but knew of our situations and they are more appreciated than they knew.....I may have taken my plate and shuffled to an empty table with my head down, eaten a bite or two, thanked them politely and went back to the hospital or my room......some days this not only saved us money but, given me,unknown to them,a reason to see/think past the situation!I am telling you this because some of you may not know that you can offer help in more ways than money when it comes to charity,if you have a church group,a bingo club,a book club,a precinct (yes,we had the Aurora Police cook breakfast 1 day) or even just your family can go and donate your time at your local RMH......you WILL make a difference!
CHD is the #1 reason for death among children,yes.....an even higher rate than cancer! Some people don't know that and if it's not effecting them personally, they don't give it a second thought! Please make yourself aware of this disease......you could have a pregnant daughter, wife or sibling who doesn't know their child will be born with this life threatening disease! Please know that they (cardiologists',scientists and medicine) are making progress everyday, learning more with every case..... even in the short span of five years, they have made progress, what may not work on one child may work on another, going from 5% chance of life to 50%,being there and watching them has given me insight into this struggle,Aiden is not out of the woods (so to speak) and this is all new to many of the nurses and staff that care for these children every day, they don't have answers and some of the treatments are on a "see how it goes"basis, trust me this is scary.....to look to them for answers on why they are doing this or that and have them say they don't know is not reassuring at all,but I know that they are learning and unfortunately they are learning on my child,3 years ago this aspect made me mad but what they don't know about my child today, they WILL know about someone else's child tomorrow! This means a lot to me.....I don't want to think that Aiden is all better now and forget about CHD,he is not all better and I cannot just go on with my day!We will live with this the rest of his life!
Thank you to everyone who helped and please know you made this so much easier on our family..... you made a difference! God Bless!
Aiden had his 3rd (The Fontan) on November 25th and he seemed to do well, then on December 3rd,after a full day of tachacardia and codes and 4 X-rays,they rushed him into the OR to find out why there was air around his lung (the tubes for the left side have been constantly draining),the tubes that were in his sternum were constantly twisting and created holes that made the tubes tear. They pulled the tubes and placed them on his sides and through his ribs!December 8th,they decided that they needed to use a procedure where they scrub the area around his lung,to hopefully create scar tissue and minimize the fluid, this process required that he NOT be on any anti-inflamitories so that the scar tissue would stick.....this was the 3rd urine catheter, but, this one caused HUGE swelling and nothing he could take to relieve it! POOR baby!!! December 12th.....The lung scrub thing (trust me,there's a bigger more technical word for this) was going slow so they decided to take him back for a heart cath, while in there they found a blood clot in his aorta (scary and I am glad they found it!!!) They also placed 2 stints! The fluid has slowed a little more and Saturday they took out one of the tubes (the right side) this one had slowed enough to do so!
I wanted to thank everyone for their constant prayers and support during this past 3 weeks! Without your prayers and constant encouragement I would have been a mess (well, more of one)....
The donations have been a huge help,we hadn't expected to be here this long and every dime has been incredibly helpful and greatly appreciated! We don't know how much longer we will be here, with Gods help and your prayers, that won't be much longer!!!
If you can donate, that would be awesome, but if not, that's ok.....please share and keep updated on Aidens FB page!!
Thank you so much and God Bless and Happy Holidays!!!
I don't need anything material....I need my son to live a good, healthy, long and happy life!
Yes,$700 was pulled for propane back in January because we went without heat for a week....Go Fund me takes their shares as well as wepay (fees and what-not)!! But here I go again, trying to explain why we need the money and if people would read what I posted the 1st couple of months then maybe they wouldn't have doubts!
I just want people to know I am/this site and especially my sons illness ARE NOT a scam!
Please share Aidens link(This page),say a prayer or donate if you can.....I truly apologize to those who think I am begging but as I told that horrible woman that left such cruel comments.....I may post this everyday but we are lucky if 1 person a week donates,I am not raking in the dough and we are still hurting!
Please do not think I am not grateful for those who have repeatedly donated and been so supportive!
No what, please believe I am very appreciative!
I have had this up for almost a year and while cats can get $24,000 in 3 days you may understand the frustration there,if you have read through my posts on here I have stated where every cent has gone, please do not assume I cannot budget! I am not sure where you got $1,800 in off line donations,it was $1,200 and in December of last year we had a $700 propane bill,so some of the funds went there...and I told everyone, nothing was hidden! I am aware there are children and families worse off than mine and I have donated when and where I could! I post a couple of times a week.....we received 4 donations in August, from repeat donations! If people don't want to donate then they don't have to!
As for this 40 hours of "childcare"as you put it,it wasn't even wanted,I asked for help with Aiden so I could have a much needed surgery that will keep me incompasitated for 3 weeks! Please educate your self on this fundraiser, read my posts from the beginning! I would love to work! You might want to look into what insurance does and not pay for....but I assume you are getting your information from a pretty reliable source! God forbid someone should lie to you just to be a drama queen!Take care and God Bless!
Prayers for you and your family!
This drives me insane.... youve already collected almost $2000 here, $585, and $1800 from an offline donation..., yet you are still begging? Your sons surgery is paid for.... you have health insurance. Why is almost $4500 not enough for the ronald mcdonald stay and gas? I just dont understand, and I am sure you get your "friends" to attack me, and make a big deal bc god forrbid anyone ask what your begging for this week, but now that you have free childcare 40 hours a week, maybe you could earn your own money or learn how to budget your husbands correctly. There are SOOO many families with a greater need than yours, but you refuse to see how blessed you are
I can't imagine what you and so many others are going through. I know it has to be scary. I've gone through two open heart surgeries with my husband. Praying!
