WHERE WOULD YOU LIKE THE BULLET?
- a film about Aidan Higgins  (1927-2015) -

www.neildonnelly.ie

Aidan Higgins was born in Celbridge, County Kildare in 1927 and departed this life in 2015 aged 88 years. In 2007 Aidan was honoured by fellow writers and artists in ‘Aidan Higgins at 80’ a three-day-festival in Celbridge Abbey.
Boosted by the presence of John Banville, Fintan O’Toole, Derek Mahon and possibly his greatest supporter, Annie Proulx (‘The Shipping News’ and ‘Brokeback Mountain’) the festival prompted a considerable revival – not alone in Ireland but also abroad.

Our film documentary wishes to continue that revival. It is not so much a labour of love; it is more a sense of duty, an attempt to reignite awareness of Aidan’s vast output now that he is no longer with us.

William Trevor was considerably helped by television, especially the 1983 RTE/BBC adaption of his short story ‘The Ballroom of Romance’ which had the effect of drawing viewers to his written work.

Hopefully, in the same way, our documentary, “Where would you like the Bullet?” will draw viewers towards Aidan’s vast body of exceptional writing.

The money will go to secure creative titles, final off-line editing, sound mixing, composing, music rights, on-line grading, cameraman for final days shoot, actors, interviewees.
