A Heart That Pumps Strong And True

Anyone who knows John Swanson knows a steady strong and servant spirit. He and his wife have 5 kids and 9 grand babies. He is always quick to help those who need it. And now it’s our turn to help him. A little background on why we’re raising money. Four months ago, John had a heart attack. It came out of no where with no warning. He is a healthy 60 year old who is physically active. After the heart attack, they put in a stent and he was sent home. He went to physical therapy, changed his diet, and took the medication but his heart has continued to deteriorate. In February, he was admitted to the hospital to remove fluid that was building up around his lungs (a job of the hearts). They were able to remove a significant amount of fluid. He began to feel worse and was moved to Lincoln to the Heart Hospital. Here they informed the family that he was in heart failure. The best course of action was to get a transplant. But in the mean time a pump (LVAD) would need to be used to get him through till there was a heart available. The cardiologist in Lincoln worked hard and got him into UNMC in Omaha. John is the ideal candidate for a transplant. Other than his heart, he is completely healthy. The doctor said things can move fast. .With all these big things needed the price tag in daunting. They tried to get the pump (LVAD) donated. But they said “No”. And the insurance that John has has also said they would not cover it or a transplant. The LVAD is $600,000. Transplant is $900,000. Because of not being able to do this financially, he has been sent home with IV medication and a defibrillator installed in his chest. The hope would be to find a way to get the pump and the transplant. It’s overwhelming. But we know and have a God that is not overwhelmed. This money is nothing to God. All that we have is from Him. We trust Him and His plan and His timing. Please join us in constant praying but also give what you can to them.
