Help us shelter these AIDS orphans:
Agape International was formed in 2003 by Lynne Voggu. Its mission is to care for children in Hyderabad, India who are affected by HIV and AIDS, from cradle to college.
We provide these children, half of whom are HIV+, shelter, food, medical treatment and, most importantly, love. Our goal is to help them develop into independent, productive human beings, well integrated into society.
However, the orphanage buildings that we rent are now surrounded by new residential construction. The staff and children face harassment from neighbors who don't want HIV+ children living next door, and from landlords who want to raise rents to unaffordable levels. These orphans now face eviction.
This is where you come in!
Agape International is in the process of buying land so that we can build more educational and housing facilities. We have to raise $300,000 by December 31st to cover the cost of the land – we've had one generous donor offer a dollar for dollar match if we can raise it by this time.
It's been incredible seeing Agape grow, from just one house with six children, to multiple homes, caring for over 200. But, unfortunately, these resources aren't free. And with over 1,500 HIV+ babies being born every year, we need more space to care for these kids.
